Karoun Petrochemical Company is the first producer of isocyanates, including TDI and MDI, and a completer of the polyurethane value chain in the Middle East and West Asia. At Karoun Petrochemical, using gases such as chlorine, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen, along with feed stocks like toluene, benzene, formalin, ammonia, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid, various basic and main petrochemical products with high added value and world-class quality are produced and supplied to domestic and international markets. Karoun Petrochemical products are primarily used in the polyurethane industry. Among the most important downstream products are various types of foam, sponge, and cushioning materials used in the production of furniture, office and home chairs, and car seats. These products are also used in the manufacture of thermal and acoustic insulation, sandwich panels, prefabricated walls, and both domestic and industrial refrigerators. Other key applications include the footwear and leather goods industry, particularly for shoe soles and synthetic leather. In the medical and hygiene sectors, one of the most important uses is in the production of orthopedic bandages. They are also used in the production of elastomers, industrial adhesives, and laminate adhesives.
Introduction to Karoun Petrochemical
Krit Camp Area – Ahvaz: The ethane recovery unit is built on a 5.9-hectare site at kilometer 15 of the Ahvaz–Mahshahr Road. This unit produces feedstock for the Olefin Unit, which is transferred via a 95-kilometer pipeline to the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone. Petrochemical Special Economic Zone: The Olefin Unit, along with Heavy Ethylene, Propylene, Ethylene Oxide, and Ethylene Glycol Units, as well as auxiliary and offsite services, is constructed on a 93-hectare site in Site 2 of the Bandar Imam Khomeini Petrochemical Special Economic Zone.
